The entertainment comes from watching familiar people respond to unfamiliar, imaginative situations. John guides the performance with suggestions and clear stage direction, while the volunteers supply their own expressions, reactions and comic moments. The audience follows the unfolding scenes, and each group of participants gives the show a different character.

Guests can choose to volunteer or enjoy the complete performance from their seats. John treats participants respectfully and discusses the audience profile, venue and event programme with the organiser. Comedy hypnosis is booked as its own show, separately from comedy magic and mentalism. Different hypnosis programmes and running times can be discussed for the occasion.
